SU announces festivities for MayFest on April 26

MayFest, an annual celebration for the Syracuse University community, will be held April 26 from 1-6 p.m. in Walnut Park.

The festivities will begin at 1 p.m. with a concert featuring rapper Earl Sweatshirt as the headliner. Sound Remedy will be the opener and a middle act will be announced at a later date.

To enter Walnut for free, students will need to show a valid SU or State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry ID card. SU and ESF graduate students and College of Law students need to purchase a ticket for $21.50 to attend, according to a Monday SU News release.

Undergraduates will be able to purchase one guest ticket each at the Schine Box Office for $21.50. Ticket sales will end at 4 p.m. on April 26 or earlier, if tickets sell out, according to the release.

The event features free food, beverages and live music entertainment. Students who are 21 or older will be able to receive up to four beers with a valid ID, according to the release.

MayFest will lead into University Union’s Block Party 2013, which will take place on April 26 in the Carrier Dome. The concert, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will feature the artist Ke$ha as the headliner. Supporting acts will be announced at a later date.
