Director of compliance Erlease Wagner to reportedly leave university this fall
Syracuse director of compliance Erlease Wagner will leave the school this fall, according to Syracuse.com. Wagner served in the position for part of the time SU’s men’s basketball team committed violations, as reported by the NCAA in March.
The decision to leave the university at some point this fall is her own and isn’t related to the NCAA investigation, per Syracuse.com. She has been SU’s director of compliance since August 2006.
Wagner was involved with the changing of Fab Melo’s grade in January 2012 which allowed him to continue playing for the Orange, according to the NCAA report. She attended a meeting where high-ranking officials discussed Melo’s academic status and brought a grade change form to the registrar’s office.
“With time of the essence, the director of compliance (Wagner), the director of student-athlete support services and the deputy director of athletics, as well as the professor, went to the registrar’s office to ensure that the grade change form was processed ‘appropriately,’” the report said.
Since the report came out, there have been several changes in SU’s athletic department and now, deputy athletic director Herman Frazier is the last remaining official in the athletic department who attended the meeting on Melo.
