Here is a look at some events happening on before Spring Break:

UVP hosts evening of art and conversation

As part of the ongoing show “Between Species,” Urban Video Project (UVP) will host an indoor screening of artists’ videos on Thursday. The night will include a discussion with artist Maria Whiteman and collaborator and theorist Cary Wolfe, according to UVP’s website.

“Between Species” is a series on the idea of “the animal” and how visuals help people connect to them.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Everson Museum of Art. It is free and open to the public.

SWEEP hosts etiquette workshop and fashion show

An etiquette dinner and professional-wear fashion show will take place Thursday in Goldstein Auditorium in the Schine Student Center from 5 to 8 p.m. The Syracuse Women’s Empowerment & Engagement Partnership (SWEEP) is hosting the event for the second year in a row.

The etiquette dinner will include tips on how to behave at a business dinner. The fashion show will feature looks that are representative of 10 different scenarios college students may face.

The cost of the event is $5 for SU students and staff, and tickets can be bought at the Schine Box Office.

Screening of food waste documentary

Greenpeace SU, the Syracuse University Sustainability Division, Brainfeeders SU and Students of Sustainability will screen “DIVE!,” a documentary about food waste, in Watson Theater on Thursday.

The movie features the stories of dumpster divers, according to the event’s Facebook page.

The screening will start at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

SU professor discusses conflict in Ethiopia

John McPeak, a professor of public administration and international affairs at Syracuse University, will discuss on Thursday his latest research paper on land disputes in southern Ethiopia. He will discuss the various types of conflict found in the region and how different conflict resolution institutions handle them.

McPeak’s talk is part of the Conversations in Conflict Studies series. The event will take place in Eggers Hall from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
