Sophomore pitcher Alexa Romero was awarded Atlantic Coast co-pitcher of the week for the second time this season. The award comes after Romero’s second no-hitter of the season, making her the second player in Syracuse (13-7, 2-1 ACC) history to pitch multiple no-hitters. She shared the title with Notre Dame’s Alexis Holloway.

Romero earned the honor the week of Feb. 20 after pitching a perfect game against Sacramento State. This week, the honor was awarded after she pitched her second no-hitter of the season. Romero didn’t allow a hit in the ACC opener against Virginia Tech in which SU won 2-0. Romero struck out nine batters.

In three games against VT, Romero pitched 13 innings and let up two runs and two hits. She reached 10 innings with no hits, ending the streak in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the Hokies.

Romero is 9-4 this season and has a 1.18 ERA. Her 115 strikeouts place her among the NCAA leaders in the category.
