Alexa Romero has been dominant all season for the Orange.

Sophomore pitcher Alexa Romero was named NCAA co-player of the week as well as ACC pitcher of the week. This is the first NCAA softball accolade for Syracuse (26-18, 8-11 Atlantic Coast) this season and the third time Romero was named pitcher of the week in the ACC. It is her first time being as the sole-owner of the title.

Romero pitched in three games — Syracuse’s matchup with Niagara and two matchups with N.C. State — last week and struck out 41 batters. Over that span, she allowed just two runs on five hits and walked seven batters. Against N.C. State on Saturday, Romero struck out a career-best 16 batters in the 3-1 win.

Romero currently ranks fifth in country in strikeouts (246) and first in the ACC.
