The Orange are replacing three starters from their 2018 offensive line.

Syracuse’s offensive line officially received reinforcements on Tuesday morning. The Orange announced former South Alabama offensive tackle Ryan Alexander has joined the team as a graduate transfer.

Alexander started 27 games across three seasons for the Jaguars, including all but one at right tackle in 2018. The 6-foot-3, 307-pound lineman led the team with 46 knockdown blocks and finished the season with an 84% assignment grade. Alexander — a Floral Park, New York native — was named an All-Sun Belt honorable mention.

After graduating three starting offensive linemen and some injuries during the spring, Syracuse started two underclassmen at the spring game in April. Part of that was due to an injury to Sam Heckel, which forced Airon Servais back to center.

Assuming Heckel is ready for the fall, the addition of Alexander could mean experience at both tackles, with the graduate transfer playing one and two-year starting center Servais playing the other.
