Trishton Jackson, Syracuse’s leading receiver last season, declared for the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday afternoon via Twitter and will forego his final season of eligibility.

“I can’t be gracious enough for the opportunity to play the game I love at both Michigan State and Syracuse University,” Jackson’s statement read, in part.

The former Michigan State receiver transferred to Syracuse in the spring of 2018 in the hopes of jumpstarting his football career. After scoring a touchdown in his debut in the 2018 Camping World Bowl, Jackson led SU with 66 catches for 1023 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Jackson, Dino Babers’ third 1000-yard receiver in four seasons at Syracuse, leaves a clear void in need of filling next season. Jackson caught a team-high 11 touchdowns in 2019.

SU’s options at receiver for 2020 include Taj Harris, Nykeim Johnson, Cameron Jordan, Anthony Queeley, Ed Hendrix and Courtney Jackson. Tight ends Luke Benson and Aaron Hackett accounted for nine touchdowns in 2019.
