Syracuse’s game against Virginia has been postponed due to impending inclement weather in the Virginia area, per an SU Athletics release. The game was initially scheduled for Jan. 16 in Charlottesville, Virginia, and has yet to be rescheduled.

Parts of Virginia are expected to get a significant snow storm over the weekend, which has already prompted Gov. Ralph Northam to declare a state of emergency

SU’s meeting with the Cavaliers is the Orange’s third postponement of the season after their Jan. 2 ACC game against Florida State and a Dec. 22 nonconference game against Siena were both canceled due to COVID-19 protocols in both opposing programs. Syracuse’s game against the Seminoles has been rescheduled for Feb. 15 at 6 p.m., while a new date for its meeting against the Saints hasn’t been announced.

The Orange are coming off a 13-point road loss to No. 3 Louisville and are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, its longest since the 2008-09 season. Each loss has been to an ACC opponent, which has forced Syracuse back to .500 with 11 games remaining in its season.

Syracuse’s (8-8, 1-5 ACC) next scheduled game is Jan. 20 at the Carrier Dome against No. 15 Georgia Tech (13-3, 4-1). It will mark the Orange’s third straight game against a ranked opponent.
