Tight end Oronde Gadsden II was named an Associated Press Third-Team All-American, the publication announced Monday. Gadsden totaled 860 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2024.

He first broke out for the Orange as a sophomore in 2022, notching six touchdowns on 969 receiving yards and 61 receptions. He then missed most of the 2023 due to a Lisfranc injury, exiting early in SU’s second game.

In 2024, Gadsden returned to his star production at the tight end spot. The 6-foot-5 senior helped quarterback Kyle McCord emerge as the leading passer in the nation (4,326 yards). Gadsden’s numbers paired with wide receivers Jackson Meeks and Trebor Peña on the outside, totaling 2,642 receiving yards, 221 receptions and 19 touchdowns between the three.

Gadsden also earned a spot on the Sports Illustrated Second Team All-American. These honors pair with his First-Team All-ACC selection, the second of his career.

On the AP teams, Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. took the First-Team slot while Penn State’s Tyler Warren was named to the Second-Team.

Gadsden is the first Syracuse player to be named an AP All-American since running back Sean Tucker in 2021. He’s only the seventh SU player named to an AP team this century.
