Syracuse defensive back Jayden Bellamy has entered the transfer portal, he announced on social media Tuesday. The redshirt sophomore totaled three interceptions across two seasons with the Orange, including a pick-six against Holy Cross on Sept. 28.
Bellamy joined the Orange in 2023 following a redshirt season at Notre Dame where he appeared in zero games. He made an immediate impact at SU, starting seven games at cornerback and totaling 29 tackles. His top play of the year came against Pittsburgh, nabbing a game-sealing pick-six for SU’s fifth win of the year.
He returned this past season in a smaller role, backing up Clarence Lewis and Marcellus Barnes Jr. on the outside. Barnes Jr. suffered a season-ending injury against Virginia Tech on Nov. 2, and Bellamy stepped up the rest of the way. He recorded 37 total tackles and two interceptions.
Bellamy enters the transfer portal with two years of eligibility left, further decimating Syracuse’s secondary. Barnes Jr. and Jaeden Gould already entered the portal while Lewis is out of eligibility.
