News to watch out for this weekend

A roundup of important events happening this weekend:
Lecture honoring late SU professor
Michelle Fine, a distinguished professor at the City University of New York Graduate Center, will deliver a lecture Thursday in honor of late Syracuse University professor Sari Knopp Biklen. Biklen died in September 2014 after she retired from SU, where she had worked for 38 years.
Fine’s talk is titled “Prec(ar)ious Knowledge: Adolescent Wisdom Borne in Neoliberal Blues.” The event is free and open to the public. It starts at 4 p.m. Thursday in Watson Theater.
Central New York boat show
The CNY Boat show will take over the New York State Fairgrounds from Thursday to Sunday. More than 500 new boats will be on display from numerous companies, according to the event’s website. There will also be periodic shows put on by Extreme Raptors, featuring eagles, hawks, owls and falcons.
Free parking is provided and admission is $10 for adults and free for children aged 13 and under. The show runs from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m on Sunday.
Guest organist to put on concert
Nathan Laube, a world-renowned concert organist, will perform at Hendricks Chapel Sunday at 4 p.m. He will also teach a master class to Setnor School of Music students on Saturday. Laube is an assistant professor at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.
Laube performs solo 40-50 times a year, according to the Hendricks Chapel website. The event is free and open to the public.
“Beasts of No Nation” screening
The Maxwell African Scholars Union will host a screening of “Beasts of No Nation” in 204 Maxwell Hall on Thursday. The film, a Netflix original, is about a warlord in an unspecified West African country who trains a child to be a soldier in his army.
Deborah Pellow, an anthropology professor, will lead a discussion afterward, according to the event’s website.
Food will be served and the event is free. It begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
