Five individuals injured at a shooting on Midland Avenue Thursday night are listed in stable condition and expected to recover from their injuries, the Syracuse Police Department announced Monday.

Police arrived at the 1300 block of Midland Avenue at around 9:00 p.m. Thursday in response to reports of shots being fired and that more than one person was potentially injured, according to the release.

The shooting was first reported in a Thursday SPD press release.

Five people were found injured and taken by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital for treatment. The ages and injuries of the victims, according to SPD, include:

• A 35-year-old man shot in his torso, arm and leg.
• A 29-year-old man shot in his chest.
• A 35-year-old woman shot in her abdomen.
• An 8-year-old girl shot in her hip.
• A 35-year-old woman shot in her hand.

The victims were reportedly at a family gathering when shots were fired from across the street into a crowd that was gathered, according to the release.

Syracuse clergy addressed the shooting and called for an end to violence in Syracuse at a press conference on Saturday.

Twenty-one people were killed in Syracuse in 2017, according to Syracuse.com.

The investigation into the Midland Avenue shooting is ongoing as of Monday night, according to SPD.
