Syracuse men’s XC rises to No. 12, women stay at No. 23

Following its performance at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, Syracuse men's cross country rose 11 spots to No. 12 in the NCAA Cross Country Coaches' Poll. SU's women's team stayed at No. 23 in the rankings.

After an eighth-place finish at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, Syracuse men’s cross country jumped up 11 spots in the NCAA Cross Country Coaches Poll to No. 12. SU’s women’s team remains at No. 23.

SU’s men’s team earned 196 points in the new poll after being ranked No. 23 last week. It was a strong weekend for Syracuse, beating out 11 ranked schools in the men’s 8k with 258 points and an eighth-place finish in the Pre-Nationals. In addition, SU held its spot at No. 1 in the Northeast Regional rankings. Oklahoma State remains at the top spot in the coaches poll with 328 points.

The women’s squad stayed put at No. 23 with 87 points. The Orange finished 15th in the women’s 6k at Pre-Nationals, beating out six ranked schools. In the Northeast Region, SU stayed at No. 2, only behind Providence. Following a big weekend, BYU jumped into the top spot of the coaches poll with 330 points. Washington moved up a spot to No. 2 with 318 points. Northern Arizona dropped from first to third, now sitting at 309 points.
